The Lowcountry Franklin Graham Festival is a unique opportunity for us to tell people in our area about Jesus Christ and the meaning that He gives to life. It is a process that will bring hope, strength, and encouragement to local churches. Not surprisingly, significant financial resources are needed to plan, organize, promote, and conduct such an event.
It is important to know exactly how the funds are used and who is responsible for them. The following information has been prepared to help answer those questions.
How the Funds Will Be Used
An evangelistic Festival is a costly investment. Expenditures will be incurred throughout the ten months of planning prior to the Festival meetings, during the three days of Festival meetings themselves, as well as during the two months of follow-up activities.
Some savings will be realized through the purchase, at cost, of printed materials from the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. The majority of expenditures will be incurred locally.
How the Funds Will Be Managed
The Lowcountry Franklin Graham Festival has been incorporated as a non-profit organization in Charleston, South Carolina. The corporation will issue receipts for income tax purposes.
The Festival is governed by the Executive Committee. The committee members, all of whom are local residents, have been carefully selected for their unique qualifications and experience. The committee has many different responsibilities and functions, one of which is to prepare a budget and manage expenditures.
The committee will ensure fiscal control in three ways. First, the committee bears full responsibility to raise all funds required to defray the costs invested in the Festival. Second, it will provide opportunities for individuals and churches within the community to support the Festival through financial contributions. Third, the committee has taken measures to ensure that the money is handled according to the highest ethical standards.
The Executive Committee will engage a local accounting firm to provide advice on financial procedures and to regularly review Festival expenditures. The firm will also prepare financial statements at the close of the Festival. The Executive Committee will review the auditor’s final report and have it published in the local press. Copies of the final report will be made available to the public upon request.
Franklin Graham will receive no remuneration from the Lowcountry Franklin Graham Festival. All of his expenses are funded through the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan's Purse.
